Daonscoil na Mumhan is the oldest summer school in Ireland. It was founded following a proposal by Pádraig Ó hÍceadha in 1952 to establish an annual Irish-language gathering. The first event was held at Coláiste na Rinne, where the Daonscoil has taken place ever since. Daonscoil na Mumhan now operates as a subcommittee of Coláiste na Rinne.
Held each August, the Daonscoil aims to immerse participants in the Irish language and culture through a variety of educational and social activities. It is rooted in the vision of a re-Gaelicised Ireland and highlights the importance of Irish as a living, spoken language. The school is hosted at Coláiste na Rinne in the Déise Gaeltacht, an institution with a long-standing role in the promotion of Irish language and culture.
