TY Programme Outline
A nourishing environment
Coláiste na Rinne is offering a Transition Year Course for the full academic year 2026/27. This is a 5 day, Monday to Friday residential programme. The programme is delivered on a collaborative basis between Coláiste na Rinne and Meánscoil San Nioclás, the local secondary school in the Waterford Gaeltacht.
This course offers a unique opportunity to spend a year in the Gaeltacht and is ideal for students who are interested in the Irish language and Irish culture. The course is particularly suited to students wishing to pursue a career where fluency in the Irish language is an asset, in such fields as education, media, law, public service, and journalism.
Boarding students will be registered as students of Meánscoil San Nioclás and will attend the transition year programme there in the company of local students. Students participating in the transition year programme will be required to use Irish at all times including: at school, at leisure and during off-campus excursions.
